Yet another one tried to follow me home today, but I have to wait 3-days to pick it up now (& then pay even-extra for that privilege, Colorado truly-sucks anymore!). 32-inch (and almost flawless inside and out, no dents, no pits, they look almost "new") very-dramatic & what I would assume-to-be original-finished "Black & White Fine Twist" tubes with breeches so-thick they look like it might be a double-rifle(!), choked mod and mod (had to use a dime to measure them as this shop normally deals in black guns & handguns, so they had no-idea about what this gun is). The tubes ring decently and they have absolutely-remarkable color left on them, the whole gun does as-well for that matter and with completely original finishes throughout (with only few handling marks here and there). A 1901 born-on date (according to the SN), sooo that makes it an Ithaca Crass model (I believe?). Weighs somewhere in the 8 1/2 pound range(?) and it fits me remarkably well (not too-much drop & with a decent LOP) so...a possible clays gun, maybe?
Didn't need it but... couldn't pass it up as it was too-nice and too-cheap. Can anybody here tell me something about my "new" Ithaca?

Where did you find it?
Pictures are obligatory, of course...

Pictures will have to follow Brent, as my "overlords" here won't let me have it until after Easter. I'll try to "snip" some of the online advertising pics when I get back to the house.

It's hard to resist a quality hammergun
I have become addicted to English hammered shotguns to the detriment of my wallet.

It's hard to resist a quality hammergun That's the truth, and I am down to just 2 hammer doubles. In the meantime, I am sitting here in the timber, waiting on a gobbler with a hammer pump gun. Grandpa's and Great Uncler Carl's '97 Winchester, in my lap.

The 3 day wait does not apply to guns over 50 years old.

Chantry: Sadly, that is so-true.
While it's not-exactly a British Best... the firing pins have springs that pull them back from the breech after firing(!) and the hammers fall well-below the line-of-sight when cocked. All of the screwheads are still timed & perfect and the original dogs-head(?) Ithaca Trap Gun buttplate is still in place. The standing breech is flawless and I could not find any issues in the wood, anywhere. This gun has been used very-little and then it has been stored very-carefully for the last 124 years.
I simply had no choice in the matter.

Brent: my very 1st scattergun was my great-grandfather's well-used Model 97. Slay a "butterball" in his memory for me.
