Have looked for one of these with the removable rifle barrel for a very long time unfortunately this example is 12 bore and missing the extractor. Very interesting design and has been hard to find to say the least.

Say if you take a look at picture 32 of 40, doesn’t it look like there is a crack in the receiver starting at the left firing pin hole and running down?

Perhaps or a gas relief line?

I think it’s a scratch but not 100% sure. If 16ga and not missing extractor I would buy and sleeve rifle barrel to something quite lethal. Will keep looking, nothing would surprise me in the current market.

Yeah, but funny how you don’t see that by the other pin hole. I suspect that someone removed the extractor because it is unsafe to shoot. Nothing wrong with having a wall hanger as long as you know it is one.

Adolf Frank artikel by John Laborde in GGCA Publication #58 Spring 2016.

I think that someone removed the rifle barrel and either forgot to insert the extractor back in or couldn't. So they just left it out.

The drilling seems to be somewhere between the "collector" and the "bidder", maybe the extractor will be found in the package or by the "consignee". If the extractor is not found, a new one is less problematic than if the receiver really is cracked. If it is cracked, I know of no repair that would be accepted by a proof house. I wouldn't 't pass it up based on a possible crack, without a definitive check and agreement to return it if cracked. As far as lining the barrel is concerned, it may be better to just make a new one, keeping the old one for originality (John Laborde's excellent photos indicate it would be doable by an experienced American gunsmith). If either a new barrel or liner is installed, I recommend 8x57IRS because it is an excellent cartridge while generating less pressure than some of the other choices.
