I purchased a batch of guns in France using a trusted buyer. We planned on buying over this year and bring them in this fall. But his exporting "gunsmith" said he was quitting handling guns in May. We decided to ship what we have before then. We shipped a Purdey, two Hollands,two Darnes and a Winchester 21 on 3/23, arrived on 3/24, got shipped between airports a couple times, landed at IAD over the weekend and was delivered to the customs broker on 4/7. I just missed having to pay a 20% tariff. I sweated a little on that one! The Purdey is for me, a 1935 cased beauty that has been in France a long time, barely used. I'll enjoy trying to ascertain its history as well as how to shoot it. I'll post photos as soon as I have it in hand.
