Slightly off-topic, I suppose, but "hunting & guns" all the same. Colorado is clearly not following the rest of the country in it's "correction" to the center-right. If anything, we're going further to the "left" here all the time now (just watch our gun laws "evolving" to see that). The local Division of Wildlife here has also followed that trend, first by raiding the federal "Pittman-Robertson" funds here a few years ago (to be used inappropriately [on non-game issues] in this now fully-blue State) and now they're talking about even further-revising the big-game hunting regulations...so each year seems like it might be my last in this pursuit.

While I've really nothing to complain about (I've had over 30-years of wonderful big game seasons here) it is after-all a "tradition" I've observed since I was just a boy (back in Nowhere, Pennsylvania). So my son and I (& some of my long-time hunting partners here) will go through the ever-increasingly complicated process again here today. One wonders just how many of these "seasons" are left to my son and I (& for all sorts of reasons, obviously) but this has become somewhat "bittersweet" for me. It used to be so positive and exciting...

I feel your pain my state is also turning blue sick. This means more laws regulating possession of firearms and more concern for animal protection at the expense of hunter community. I am staying put because I'm not weak.

It's simple choice, either fight or run, and as usual "demography" is still destiny (which is why Biden held the southern border open for so long), so pick carefully. Staying here isn't hopeless just yet, but it's getting ever tougher to hang-on. Getting older has its own form of "calculus" and having close friends and/or even some family around really seems to make a difference as the going gets tougher (& it inevitably will).

Once our son completes his college education, he'll likely head off to "greener pastures" (for work, of course). Ultimately, that will likely cause us to follow him someday (if he ever has a family of his own). Pulling up stakes here won't be easy (after 40-years now) but...I'm always looking around for the next, best place for us. I'm going to go fly fishing up in the Black Hills this Summer with just that thought in mind.

Here's praying that America's "Golden Era" (as Trump is now calling it) is yet to be upon us, eh?
