Slightly off-topic, I suppose, but "hunting & guns" all the same. Colorado is clearly not following the rest of the country in it's "correction" to the center-right. If anything, we're going further to the "left" here all the time now (just watch our gun laws "evolving" to see that). The local Division of Wildlife here has also followed that trend, first by raiding the federal "Pittman-Robertson" funds here a few years ago (to be used inappropriately [on non-game issues] in this now fully-blue State) and now they're talking about even further-revising the big-game hunting regulations...so each year seems like it might be my last in this pursuit.
While I've really nothing to complain about (I've had over 30-years of wonderful big game seasons here) it is after-all a "tradition" I've observed since I was just a boy (back in Nowhere, Pennsylvania). So my son and I (& some of my long-time hunting partners here) will go through the ever-increasingly complicated process again here today. One wonders just how many of these "seasons" are left to my son and I (& for all sorts of reasons, obviously) but this has become somewhat "bittersweet" for me. It used to be so positive and exciting...
