I attended Expo 67 in Montreal as well Lloyd. it was great. It was the last positive contribution to my country that Quebec made.
What most of you are missing is the enemy isn't Canada. It's liberal socialists. In both countries. The reason Albertans have the highest polling in favour of becoming a 51st state is because they have the highest percentage of truly conservative voter.
Lloyd, The bigger risk for Canadians is the status quo. Americans are experiencing turmoil right now because you voted to upend the status quo. The theory is you will be a better, stronger, richer nation when the changes the Trump administration are making have played out and we can see their long term, real world consequences.
Canadians have not yet made that decision. Some notable minority thinks we should, but the majority do not yet understand the seriousness, the existential threat of our problems. Trudeau was an un-serious person. He absolutely personified what we call the Laurentian Elites. Trump's actions will have the disruptive yet necessary effect of throwing the cold water of realism into the faces of those people. At some point it will become apparent to the masses that we have been led down the garden path.
Change is always hard and central Canadians in particular are used to relative smooth sailing. Our short and medium term future will be difficult, no doubt. There is the possibility we will learn our lessons and in the long run, become a better, stronger, richer nation (or three) that actually does partner with America, instead of take from her. .
It all starts with exposing the socialist lie. Just as it does in the US.
