Jeez Ted, that seems a bit harsh because you got charged a little more for gas than you were used to in the US for your motorcycle trip. What was the extra you ended up having to pay.........$17?

Makes me wonder if you've ever bought gas in Europe. LOL
I can’t remember what the gas cost. That isn’t the point. How many US citizens come to Canada for lifesaving, medical care? Why not?
Americans get killed simply for being Americans all over the world, and it’s been going on my whole life. You have at least one Canadian idiot posting here who thinks it’s cute.
Donald Trump talks about retaliatory tariffs on Canadian goods and services. Doug Ford talks about bringing pain on the American people.
See the difference? Why do you suppose Mexico is remaining oddly silent on this whole issue?
I would expect most in Canada to realize that their continued EXISTENCE relies on a healthy, vibrant, two way system of trade with the United States. One should hope they could make the further connection that any difficulty with that trade would be far less harmful to the US. I would also expect that the notion of a long existing 270% tariff on US dairy products (be honest, among others) would eventually be questioned by the business man who is commander in chief.
We either have fair trade, or we don’t. I am absolutely stunned at the ignorance of Canadians on market dynamics of trade with the US. Did you happen to hear what the Vietnamese government did with their tariffs on US products? A smart group in that part of the world.
Let me know how this goes for you. Canada is poised to be among the hardest hit in the world by what is about to happen.

Ted
Chill out Ted.
You already know, because you read my posts, that I agree with just about every single thing you just posted. I was referring to your long standing vow to never return to Canada, that clearly predates Trump, after some ill fated northern sojourn. And kinda making fun of it. You know, in aid of a good natured chuckle between friends.
As an aside, you might be stunned at the level of ignorance by Americans about market dynamics of any sort, never mind their ignorance of market dynamics of trade with their largest trading partner, Canada. I don't think that is unique to Canadians. Do you know that subsequent to a meeting with Howard Lutnick, your Secretary of Commerce, last week with a dozen senior Canadian politicians and trade negotiators, including Doug Ford, the senior Canadian trade negotiator described Lutnick as giving a "a master class in tariff theory" that completely changed the Canadian delegation's outlook? Unlike the tone of what you have posted here, this is an evolving situation. I think it's safe to say that none of us, on either side of the border, no matter our political bias, was prepared or expecting Trump and his team to act this fast, this hard. It is unparalleled in modern US political history.
There are about 30 percent of Canadians who see exactly what you see, know it's coming, but like a conservative in California, can do very little about it. My hope is it breaks the country up, although i have no interest in joining the US as a state.
I've been saying to Canadians for longer than I've been on this BB, that Canada is a failed state, doesn't work and needs to be broken up and let it's constituent pieces try again. The only thing we have going for us for the future, besides proximity to the US, is our political divisions are very regional. So there is a good chance that different regions can chart a new path in a relatively united manner.
I just went back and read all the posts. What are you talking about regarding American tourists getting killed. I'll remind you that Canadians put their lives on the line to rescue Americans in Tehran during the 1979 uprising. provided your planes with safe haven during the chaos of 9/11. As I said before, as did Stan in different words...there are assholes everywhere, in every group of people. There are good people too. The US doesn't have a monopoly on that.
Does Tim Walz, Kamala, Joe Biden, Obama, Hillary, AOC and the rest of the Squad represent you? What makes you think it s different up here?
