I read recently on a Facebook group I’m in that a 20% tariff will apply to guns imported into the US from the EU after April 4. can anybody confirm this? Also, does anyone know if the tariff will apply to antique guns?

You might call an agent at a customs office and see if they know, remember, you must call 3 timed and speak to 3 different agents so you will have a tie breaker

I have not heard of any Tariffs on guns imported from the E.U. yet.

If that does indeed happen, it would be much better than the anti-Gun Democrats proposals to totally ban firearm imports as part of their never ending anti-gun agenda. You might want to remind your Facebook group about that...

If you listen carefully to Trump, he only wants to use Tariffs as a tool to eliminate decades of unfair Trade Practices that have been hurting U.S. Consumers, Manufacturers, manufacturing employees, and Agricultural Exporters for decades. So some Tariffs will be reciprocal to even the score until actual Fair Trade terms are negotiated. And some Tariffs may be punitive, such as to change the behavior of countries that are permitting drugs or illegals to enter our country. The Democrat Alarmists who claim Trump's Tariffs will destroy our economy did not reverse the Tariffs Trump imposed upon China in his last term... even though they reversed nearly everything else he did.

Our current path was leading us to unsustainable debt and trade deficits, and inevitable financial collapse. Our Nation is littered with the hollowed out remains of a once thriving manufacturing and industrial presence. In only a few weeks, Trump has secured major commitments for new Automotive and Silicon Chip Manufacturing plants, and things like Ship Building and Furniture Manufacturing may be returning as well. So I'm more than willing to give Trump and his team a chance to fix things. Meanwhile, psychotic Democrats and Liberal Lunatics can continue to push for funding massive waste, fraud, and abuse... Transgender mutilation of children... and fire-bombing of Tesla Dealerships.

Elections have consequences, and we are not the same.

Actual new tariffs have not been published, everything at this point is speculation. The publication of new tariff schedule is set for 2 April. We will see what happens.

The current speculation is in part based on statements which may or may not reflect the final outcomes.

The fact that the EU and others maintain significantly higher tariffs on some American Goods than we do on the same goods coming from them appears on its face wrong. Automobiles are a good example of this disparity, 5% vs 20% ( I think, though I have not looked it up again)

I further note that EU vs UK as a source is another question mark; will the EU tariffs apply the same to the UK? I do not know.

I see that Hyundai just announced a huge $20 Billion investment in a new Automotive Manufacturing plant in Louisiana. That's on top of several other recent announcements by foreign companies that have been suddenly motivated by Trump to make multi-billion dollar investments in the U.S. that will create jobs and strengthen our manufacturing base. Then there are a number of U.S. based corporations that will be bringing manufacturing back into the U.S. It all sounds very positive to me, compared to what we've seen in recent decades.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention that cure for cancer that Biden promised ( but failed to deliver) in three State of the Union addresses. I wonder why Democrats never mention that??? I guess it's because there are none so blind as those who refuse to see.

I don't know when actual planning began for this Hyundai investment, but I can assure Dimmy that it wasn't in January of this year. Planning for a local steel mill that was built in 2011 to exploit the new market for Marcellus Shale oil and gas drilling pipe started at least 5 years prior to groundbreaking. And that was for a $1.7 billion so-called mini-mill that melts scrap and produces under a million tons per year. Hyundai's new mill will produce over 2.7 million tons per year, so it is a substantial project, and actual planning likely started before Joe Biden & co. stole the 2020 election. Furthermore, nobody can say if Hyundai would have actually made this huge investment if Kamala Harris had been elected. The evidence suggests that they waited until the election was over, and Trump was back!

DimmyW says that Hyundai made this announcement in January "long before Trump even mentions his Tariffs". It appears DimmyW is too blinded by TDS to notice that Trump talked about Tariffs the whole time he was campaigning for the 2024 election, and also used Tariffs as a tool in his first term.

Add that to the $100 Billion invested by Taiwan Chip manufacturer TSMC, and several other massive investments made just since Trump was elected, and it is evident that his actions are a motivating factor, and a very positive sign.

Compare that to Joe Biden & co. spending $43 billion on expansion of Broadband Internet, yet not hooking up one single household. Compare that to Biden & co. spending $7.5 billion for EV Charging Stations, yet only completing 8 stations. Compare that to Biden supposedly spending $Trillions of dollars on new infrastructure, yet the only major project we all saw was a mass importation of Illegal Aliens, paid for with our tax dollars. Compare that to Biden & co. stopping the Keystone Pipeline and blocking oil production on Federal land and offshore acreage, while driving up prices for U.S. consumers. And compare that to the massive Biden/Democrat price inflation that robbed all of us of at least 20-25% of the buying power of our earnings and savings.

Funny how DimmyW and other Libtards are so terrified about Trump's Tariffs and DOGE attempts to root out waste, fraud, and corruption... yet they never mention the actual damage Biden did. Nor do they seem to care about the decades of financial pain, higher unemployment, or depressed wages that was the result of insane Foreign Trade deals.

Chicken Little DimmyW is running around crying that Trump Tariffs might increase the price of guns due to increased steel prices. Brand new alloy steel right from the Mill is still well under $1.00 per pound. New Hot-rolled steel averages less than $.50 per pound. If the average firearm has roughly 5 lbs. of steel, then even a 100% Tariff isn't going make anyone here unable to afford a gun. DimmyW should worry more about what Democrat anti-gun and ammo laws and lawsuits have done to increase prices for gun owners.

Elon Musk bought Twitter because he was disgusted with Social Media censorship of Conservatives, not because he saw it as a huge money maker. He slashed an unproductive workforce, yet the company is still working well without the dead wood. There is even more dead wood in the Federal Gov't., so only an idiot or someone profiting from the fraud would complain about DOGE and Musk.

DimmyW says Elon Musk is not competent to make economic decisions, yet it was Musk, the richest man alive, and his company SpaceX that just rescued the Astronauts that were stranded on the International Space Station for nearly 10 months. Elon Musk says he offered Biden that same rescue back in October, but Biden refused for purely political reasons, because Musk was supporting Trump. So Biden endangered the lives of U.S. Astronauts for political reasons. Anything over 6 months at zero gravity has detrimental effects upon humans, but Biden didn't care. DimmyW also lied about nuclear weapons being left unguarded for a week when DOGE sent out termination notices to DOE employees. I always expected that new Tariffs could create some temporary pain and higher prices for U.S. consumers, and that includes corporations that use imported steel aluminum, etc. The integrated steel mill where I did my Electrician Apprenticeship is now a rolling and finishing mill owned by the Russian Steel Co. NLMK. They hot roll slabs imported from Russia, and they and current employees have been hurt by sanctions put on Russia and Russian steel by Biden & co. since the Biden Administration bungled negotiations and kick-started the Ukraine war. DimmyW and other Libtards are not concerned that sanctions on Russia have also caused economic pain to U.S. citizens. Obama and Biden wanted Ukraine to be part of NATO, which was a total non-starter for Putin. So they lost Crimea, the Donbas region, destroyed a country, wasted our tax dollars, and got over a million people killed. I am more than willing to accept some temporary pain if it may lead to many years of future prosperity for the U.S. And Trump is at least working on ending that war, and even recouping some of the money we spent, through agreements to mine rare earth minerals, etc. Joe Biden wouldn't even speak to Putin. But of course, he couldn't, because he was an Alzheimer's addled puppet, and that massive lie was covered up by the Left and supported by Democrats.

Finally, no I did not hear anything about Lee Zelden saying that CO2 emissions are causing Global Warming. If he is drinking the Kool-Aid and expects the U.S. to pay while China and India continue to pollute, Trump should fire him. However, I did hear Al Gore and many of DimmyW's other Global Warming cabal telling us that the North Pole would be ice-free at least part of the year by 2010. Then that Ice-Free North Pole B.S. was changed to 2013. Then when it was obvious that was also a lie, the Left claimed Al Gore was only citing other climate researchers... the 90 or 95% that DimmyW thinks are infallible. If DimmyW had even two functioning brain cells, he might ask himself why Obama would spend over $12 million on his Martha's Vineyard Mansion, knowing it would be under water due to Global Warming in only a few years.
