Craigo, are you sayin put 3" 28 ga gaugemate in 16 bore gun? with .025 choke tube? might work...

lookin to experiment wid sum thin unknown...maybe discover whole new world...

thinking custom made 16 ga barrel with expanding cone beginning at end of 3" 28 ga chamber; then expanding to .667 and then back to .662 at muzzle...

as eightboro suggested, choke cone length may be important or not...

There is no such thing as pancake like patterns. The term "short" as pertaining to shot strings is relative, not absolute.

stanato, you sound like one of the inquisitors who convicted galileo of heresy...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galileo_Galilei

your admission that these is no such thing as pancake patterns...

just encourages me more to experiment with shotgun barrel design...

to discover something new...

maybe not flat patterns, but perhaps something else, by accident, not even on the agenda...

like maybe self correcting leads or who knows...

think of all the wonderful discoveries made by us, while we were busily pursuing something else...

Bob Brister measured shot string length by putting targets on the side of his station wagon and having his wife drive across the range while Bob shot at the targets. I would be willing to do the shooting if Ed would do the driving. I would do the testing with #4 shot.

So, this is your idea of experimenting? Let us know how much time and how many dollars you actually expend on this "project", please. My bet . . . . . NONE.

IMO, and true to form, you are only busying yourself with words, trying to find someone to fill your "void" without you ever doing any of the legwork yourself.
