Joshua, sorry to hear about your loss. I would do just like Chuck said, give a good description along with the serial number and hope for the best. It doesn't hurt to put it in as many places as you can.
As far as home insurance, I think the only will cover about $500.00 for jewerly and/or fire arms. You would need a floater on your insurance. I think it is around $100.00 a $1,000.00.
