GECO was a gun store about like Sears, etc


The history of Geco (Gustav Genschow & Co.) began in 1887 when Karl Gustav Adolf Genschow founded the company. Geco started as a weapons and ammunition wholesaler, but has since become a major ammunition brand.

1899: The company invested in a weapons and ammunition factory in Baden, Germany
1903: The company acquired Durlacher Zündhütchen- und Patronenfabrik GmbH
1912: The company established a subsidiary in Vienna to export to Austria-Hungary and the Balkans
1924: The company took over production facilities at Deutsche Werke AG
1940: The company's founder, Gustav Genschow, died
1952: The company resumed production of hunting and sports ammunition
1966/67: The GECO, Rottweil, and RWS brands merged under Dynamit Nobel AG
1972: The company relocated from Durlach to Fürth/Stadeln
