Have a gun that had a broken extractor on the right side. The ejector worked well on the left. I had the extractor replaced/repaired well. Now Can't open the action all the way to the point of ejection. Something is wrong with the ejector mechanism on the right side. Any guesses?

Francotte boxlock Model 30. The extractors move freely and are intact. Cannot get it to open far enough to eject. Apparently only the right ejector is affected.

Maybe the extractor retaining slot is too short. It may need to be extended a bit towards the distal end of the leg. Take the extractors out and compare them side by side.

Very nice shotgun smile

YES!!!
Or the extractor is too long and should be shortened a tad.

Yes, compare then side by side

There is nothing wrong w the extractors. Took the forend apart to see the iron and mechanics. Looked like the link pressing against the ejector spring was not moving freely. I think I've got it cleaned, lubed and working again...Thanks for comments!

Is this an ejector gun...or an automatic ejector gun? I'm assuming at this point it is an auto-ejector system.

Effective troubleshooting starts with an accurate description of the mechanism, and the problem. We often get incomplete or incorrect info when someone asks about a problem with a gun here, which makes it harder to give an opinion about a gun that we can't personally examine. However, it appears you eventually figured out that it is a lubrication issue.

Thanks for checking in Keith. had no idea what could have been wrong with the auto ejector not extractor Francotte. That is until I removed the forend iron from the wood. Then it was a matter of close observation to determine that the ejector mechanism was not sliding on the spring as intended. Works now. Cleaned lubed and tested.

Thanks for your comments!
