The late gun writer Don Zutz was set up to reload the 24. I owned one very briefly: A Beretta OU that I spotted at Cabela's Gun Library in Owatonna. Some 24ga shells went with it. Took it to my old gun club in Iowa and shot it. Down to my last shell on my last round and I made an interesting discovery. At least in that gun, a 28ga shell would drop in and fire.
I can't recall who ended up with Zutz's reloading equipment. But I determined that the 24 was one of those situations where it provides an answer to a question no one is asking. All 24's are 2 1/2" guns. Especially with some 28's now being bored out to 3", you can push more lead through small tubes in a gauge for which you can reload and for which ammo is readily available.
