Mike, your waterproof gun case saving the day makes me remember. On the Innoko with a freighter canoe and three hunters with two moose, the canoe filled with water due to little freeboard and rifles, tents, and canoe were lost. Canoe was found a year later. No hunters were lost, but the engine was missing from the canoe. Of course, back in the Innoko it took a few days and stream/river crossings to get to the Yukon and get spotted.
