Tucker and I decided that we were both long over due for a bird hunting trip. I have been hunting SW Nebraska since the late 90's so I figured we would head to familiar territory. To say the are has changed dramatically is an understatement, the area around Imperial has almost no CRP these days, anything resembling cover is burned and cows are now grazed on it, the number of center pivots drawing out of the aquifer is shocking. The number of Pheasants in the area cannot be 5% of what it was 25 years ago. The weather was really warm and dry, tough conditions for good dog work. We did not see many birds at all but we still managed to bag a couple each day.

A Rooster and a Prairie Chicken on day one.

Day two I put a Rooster and a Bob White in the bag. We lost another quail in the CRP.

Tucker performed very well on the trip and we had a great time. Looking forward to Sept. the 1st.
