The 14th.
What was meant by the clause was that you had to be subject to no other sovereign.
Senator Jacob Howard drafted the citizenship clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. Here is what he said it meant: "This will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens, who belong to the families of ambassadors or foreign ministers accredited to the Government of the United States, but will include every other class of persons." (Emphasis added.)
Well, if we value honesty, that right there should settle it.
Congressman John Bingham, sometimes called the father of the Fourteenth Amendment itself, held that its meaning was that "every human being born within the jurisdiction of the United States of parents not owing allegiance to any foreign sovereignty is, in the language of your Constitution itself, a natural born citizen." (Emphasis added.)
Sarcasm, off.
Best, Ted

yeah, "natural born citizen"...seems pretty clear to me....
which includes children born here, whose mothers carried them here in their womb...
for the sole purpose that their offspring, as American citizens would have opportunities not available to them anywhere else...
what a wonderful gift...
and who are we, as offspring of previous immigrants to claim we have the right to deny them that gift....

Ed, name another country that allows pregnant mothers to illegally cross their sovereign borders, thereby committing a felony, to give birth and expect citizenship for the baby?
Best, Ted

Go back and re-read what the authors of the 14th intended. Hint-it isn’t what is going on today. I’ll give you a minute. Best, Ted

Well, much as it choked in the craw of several hosts, CNN has reported that after his first week, Donald Trump has a higher approval rating from the American public that he ever had at any point during his first term.
I see Columbia decided to take back their citizens who illegally entered the US, after initially refusing to. It's called FAFO! Canada will shortly be learning the same lesson.
It's good to see someone, finally, rolling back against the Red Threat. Hollywood did a pretty damn good job vilifying Sen Joe McCarthy but he was on to something. 1940s - Fuchs was sending A-Bomb designs to Moscow from Los Alamos in real time. 1950s - The Rosenbergs got Teller’s thermonuclear bomb plans to Moscow in real time. By the early 60s MI6 was completely compromised by rich pinko kids from Cambridge. Fast forward to the 2020s and Canada has a three term Cuban communist dictator! LA has a named communist terrorist for a mayor. This isn't imaginary.

Canvasback, I don’t think people are realizing how right Mcarthy was. The commies did to him pretty much the same as they done to Trump. Their tactics never really change

As heartened as I am over the state of things now in our Federal systems, I am quite disappointed with the state of things here in Colorado. All the better small gunshops here are closing due to new Colorado gun and ammunition laws and a newly revised state regulatory scheme.
All the smaller shops are being taxed and then regulated out of existence. Most will be gone by this summer. Seemingly all that will remain will be the big boxes.
