They must have found a new stash of records. I remember talking to Bob Beach on the phone regarding my G&H #950 and he told me the records didn’t exist for the early rifles. I don’t remember what he told me the earliest serial numbers were they had records for at that time. Seems like 1200-1300 is where they began.

Here's the email response to my inquiry. Not as definitive as I previously thought... Still, I will print up the response as it does come from G&H...

to me

Mr. Tolson,

Unfortunately we have no additional information on your rifle only that it was made in 1927.

Looks like a nice Griffin rifle built on a Springfield 1903 action with a G&H ¼ rib with express sights.

Thank you,

Paul

In talking with their engraving department, they gave a "ballpark" estimate for checkering a 3 petal knob and refinishing the bolt: $1,100. I have decided to look elsewhere. My G&H sporter shown above has an outlined 2 petal knob, that may be a better choice.. looking at seeing what other quality artists there may be available. I would appreciate input from those have had a positive experience... I sent a message to Charity Littleton of www.boltcheckering.com Concerned about comments of long wait times. But encouraged by her background at Dakota Arms and clean lines of her work. Just waiting to hear back...

I had Charity do this for me on my project rifle I built a couple years back. It didn't take so long. You have to remember what mom use to say, "all things good come to those who wait." Only thing I wish I had spec'd was a bit finer lines per inch but the job and work was very good.
