Tudor Roses for the original owner, Tudor Crawshay. ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/BGKOskP.jpg) The gun was a special order in 1894, and this is a copy of the entry in the Order book but sadly it says nothing about the engraving and the identity of the engraver remains a mystery. 3 dozen golf balls??? The original owner spent a lot of time thinking about the cover plate, and the lug on the bottom of the action.
Parabola, it is a pretty safe bet they are no longer in place. They can be trouble makers.
Best, Ted

No ducks left in this part of the world, Stan. About -10 right now, wind chill is close to -30. The high temp tomorrow is going to be about -5, and the wind will still be 5-10 out of the northwest, with gusts to 20.
Baby, it’s cold outside.
Good to see you are still hitting the slew.
Best, Ted -8 here. Still a couple of ducks and quite a few geese and swan around. But they are having trouble keeping their water open. Should be gone soon. It wouild be a proper winter, if only it would snow.

It it harder to get them to realize that the entire time humans have existed, 300,000 years or so, is also insignificant In geologic terms.

But then simple-minded people usually are. _______________________________________________________________________________________________ Most people can grasp that the length of a man’s lifetime is insignificant in geologic terms. When you pick a cotton crop there is sometimes a significant amount left that opens after harvest. When prices are high it used to be worth picking the crop a second time to get the remainder, which was always such a little bit that it seemed questionable whether it was worth the effort or not.. That was called "scrapping". This dove season has been so poor that it occurred to me today that as we go the last few times we are "scrapping" the doves. Whereas a limit of 15 is always the goal we must be satisfied this season with much smaller takes. Nevertheless, i'm grateful for the few I'm blessed with. This afternoon I sat for three hours and took four, with five shots. Three of them here, taken with Dickinson 30" barreled .410. Big, beautiful mature specimens. ![[Linked Image from jpgbox.com]](https://www.jpgbox.com/jpg/74223_1024x768.jpg)

Tucker and I decided that we were both long over due for a bird hunting trip. I have been hunting SW Nebraska since the late 90's so I figured we would head to familiar territory. To say the are has changed dramatically is an understatement, the area around Imperial has almost no CRP these days, anything resembling cover is burned and cows are now grazed on it, the number of center pivots drawing out of the aquifer is shocking. The number of Pheasants in the area cannot be 5% of what it was 25 years ago. The weather was really warm and dry, tough conditions for good dog work. We did not see many birds at all but we still managed to bag a couple each day. A Rooster and a Prairie Chicken on day one. ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/8LMH3ICl.jpg) Day two I put a Rooster and a Bob White in the bag. We lost another quail in the CRP. ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/WVGWMf7l.jpg) Tucker performed very well on the trip and we had a great time. Looking forward to Sept. the 1st.
