Couldn't help myself... Call it a "rebound" buy. I sold a 1903 in 22 Hornet marked "Barreled by Griffin & Howe" at the Kansas City gun show several years back and have regretted it ever since. This one isn't as nice, but it will sooth the pain just a little from that bad decision.... smile Anyway, this was my first time to purchase from this dealer, everything done online... curious if anyone here has purchased from them before....

If the other one was nicer, that's saying a lot. This is a pretty nice rifle. And I love Fecker scopes.

Here's the only pics I have of the one that got away back in 2016... 2 lever G&H side mount (mounting plate screw heads milled off & blued), checkered bolt knob, checkered stock w/ horn front tip. Trap door butt plate. The previous owner had installed modern 1" rings and I put 7/8" back on it and added a Lyman Alaskan scope. It was part of a large estate of quality rifles that I had the privilege of helping to liquidate.

I see what you mean. Both really nice rifles, however.

Will you fix that Fecker yourself?

I know a guy in Portland, Or. that fixes crosshairs... my hands are not as nimble as they used to be. I'll put a 12X Unertl on it for the time being... The good thing is that I'm into the Sedgley for half of what I got out of the G&H back then...

Been a while since I have done one, but I enjoy fooling with them and have fixed a good handful of them. I have a binocular dissecting scope that really helps a lot.

What did they do to the bolt shroud? Please post some photos of it when you get the rifle.

Well, a little internet "google-foo" brought me this link: https://www.proxibid.com/lotinformation/87731465/rf-sedgley-custom-springfield-in-22-hornet-rifle
Seems it sold at Auction in November 2024 for $1,600. + 20%... so, $1,920. I'm still very happy with the purchase... I'll post more pics when it arrives.

Nice Hornet. Looks like a little Fecker Woodchucker scope. Eye relief probably works out better with the Unertl. I love those little woodchuckers, but they work better on single shots or when the rear base is on the bridge. I've got one on a little Martini 218 Bee.

There was a lot of interesting rifles on that sale, ah Dan? wink

Yes, John there were some neat things. I did get a Pope barreled '03 done by Gus Pachmayr that is a twin to another one that I had and the Pope barrel numbers are consecutive. Although the auction wrongly described the rifle as a 1924 Int Match '03.
