The Kiel Proof House, which had been in operation since 1974 and was located at the SIG Sauer plant in Eckernförde, officially ceased operations in 2017. After a transitional period of emergency operation, the modernized proof house was reopened in 2020 after investments of 400,000 euros by the higher authority Eichdirektion Nord.Following the closure of the SIG Sauer plant at the end of 2020, the proof house was closed again on 1 June 2021.
