Raimey : the link you sent "https://waffen-pfandleihhaus.de/beschreibungen/964.html: is the gun I have though mine has an adjustable trigger. It is a different scope mounting though, which no doubt covers the "Krupp Special" part of marking. Apparently the cocking system is sometimes called "kickspanner" and has a variation on Kreighoffs. More searching to do to find a schematic!

Ford:

Don't start rewriting history now as I know there were Heym tubes with your fingerprints on them. And I think on one pass by your house on Riverview Time that you told me that you lost your hearing being around those loud A$$ Heym Hammers in that tin leanto?? And that all Heym tube makers were deaf by age 50, maybe before.

I know the Krieghoff one but I am not sure. But I will look. I think the platform lies w/ Heym under the DRGM, but we need a number.

Good catch.... Right there before mine eyes, which I have strained looking @ hundreds of post WWII Sauers trying to find a similar steel type.

Just a sidenote, but it was illegal to use the Krupp Trademark during the occupation period. I am not sure when, or if, the Krupp Trademark could be used again??

The Germans got control of Germany (the western zone) back in the mid 1950s and were able to manufacture guns (including producing the materials with which to do that).

So, any idea who might have devised the New Krupp 3 Ringe trademark for the West?

Too, was this Krupp Steel trademark just applied to tubes of Heym platforms only? Who else besides Heym & Sauer were in the Münnerstadt area that would have used the Münich Satellite Proof Facility Mellrichstadt?

Raimey,
I have no idea about the Krupp trademark. When I was there the Firm Helmut Hoffman (?) imported a great many Remington, Colt, Smith and Wesson guns, many of which went to American Rod and Gun Clubs. They had a familial relationship with Waffen Frankonia/Jagt, and I believe many of the American guns also went through Hoffman. Hoffman was located close to Mellrichstadt so it would be convenient to go to that proofhouse.Of course other companies such as Weirauch and others in the area would go there and I don't pretend to know them all. The above map is pretty current, certainly after the "Wall came down". Before that happened, Mellrichstadt was located right at the border and would have tested many Communist guns from Suhl and possibly other areas as well. Small gunsmiths throughout the area would have also used the facility at Mellrichstadt. This is by no means a full accounting.

Well, historic info on the Proof Facility @ Mellrichstadt is elusive and Heym Tube Maker Ford(in the Tin Lean-To) is about the only source. But München and it's Satellite Stamping Station Mellrichstadt also serves as Bavaria's Weights & Measures Office and has the Status of a Proof Facility.

The Sauer influenced Eckernförde Proof Facility was founded in 1952. In 1953 the Hannover Proof Facility was up & running in a limited status till April 21st, 1955, when it was granted the status to proof everything. It had the mark of the Rampant Colt. Roughly it is 300 km between Eckernförde & Hannover. Eckernförde looks to be in a cold & miserable location. Not sure when, of if, Eckernförde was shuttered?
