Thanks all. The gun cocks by using the cocking cocking slide on the top strap - the button allows it to de cock (Blue arrows in image 1666 last one in the list) The button on the left is the barrel selector.
I believe gun makers don't put features or fixtures in actions that don't serve a purpose. Image 1666 has red arrows pointing to a post with a hole and an extra long roll pin. Perhaps a fixture for a de cocking buffering spring?
