Hey Stanton, I've got a pertinent question for you since this thread is titled "Wristwatches and Doubles": Is it a fashion statement when a guy uses a very expensive vintage Super Fox to shoot ducks when a much cheaper 3-shot automatic likely has so much more utility for the job at hand with more fire power given an extra shot and the ability to shoot more powerful ammo? Aw shucks, no wristwatch but then again, the Super Fox...if the shoe fits, wear it Stanton.
That shoe doesn't fit at all, William. I shoot inexpensive doubles as well as those rarer ones such as the HE grade Fox. I even hunt with a single shot occasionally. Heck, 98% of the people I hunt with don't know a Super Fox or a Purdey from a Baikal, and don't have a clue what the value of it is.
And, to correct you on a previous accusation you made . . . . I never said I think folks who wear wristwatches are trying to make a fashion statement, I ASKED if that was part of the reason people carry two sources of time keeping. YOU were the one that accused me of thinking that about y'all. I have a suspicion but it doesn't apply to everyone, probably just those who seem offended by it.
I still haven't heard a good reason given for the redundancy of carrying both a cell phone and a wrist watch, other than nostalgia, which I do fully understand.
