It's Stanton, not Stanley. But, you and your tag teammate jOe always knew that, didn'tja'?

Sure, William. No problem. I know it must be hell totin' the load alone. Hang in there ol' boy. Good times are just around the corner.

Oh yeah, about the fashion statement thing. Hit dog hollers I always heard.

Hey Stanton, I've got a pertinent question for you since this thread is titled "Wristwatches and Doubles": Is it a fashion statement when a guy uses a very expensive vintage Super Fox to shoot ducks when a much cheaper 3-shot automatic likely has so much more utility for the job at hand with more fire power given an extra shot and the ability to shoot more powerful ammo? Aw shucks, no wristwatch but then again, the Super Fox...if the shoe fits, wear it Stanton.

I've worn watches since my teen years. My daily wear is Luminox. Tough with easy to read hands and numerals in the pitch black of dark due to its tritium illumination. It replaced my Rolex GMT
(Pepsi colors) which was my daily wear since the mid 1970s. I gave it to my stepson for his college graduation. He had coveted it for years. I had it serviced before giving it to him. He treasures it.
A few months ago I became fascinated watching "Wrist Watch Revival" produced by a Youtuber who was a former high stakes Vegas poker player. This hobbyist has a soothing voice like the late Bob Foss, the late landscape painter, on PBS. Marshall step-by-step tears down, cleans and repairs watches of all descriptions many with sentimental value to the owner. Marshall makes it look easy. I didn't realize that when I sent my Rolex for cleaning and adjusting, every part was removed and cleaned. During bird season, I wear a Garmin Fenix with a "widget" that tracks my dogs while bluetoothing to my Garmin Alpha 300 handheld unit. Sure makes it simpler to look at a watch to find my dogs in deep cover. Gil

That shoe doesn't fit at all, William. I shoot inexpensive doubles as well as those rarer ones such as the HE grade Fox. I even hunt with a single shot occasionally. Heck, 98% of the people I hunt with don't know a Super Fox or a Purdey from a Baikal, and don't have a clue what the value of it is.

And, to correct you on a previous accusation you made . . . . I never said I think folks who wear wristwatches are trying to make a fashion statement, I ASKED if that was part of the reason people carry two sources of time keeping. YOU were the one that accused me of thinking that about y'all. I have a suspicion but it doesn't apply to everyone, probably just those who seem offended by it.

I still haven't heard a good reason given for the redundancy of carrying both a cell phone and a wrist watch, other than nostalgia, which I do fully understand.

No one cares if you or I wear a watch or not, or use a cell phone, Stanton. Fact is, you aked a ridiculously stupid question re fashion likely just to hear yourself talk.....

. . . and he's totally honest about why he wears the nicer watches. He obviously doesn't feel offended by the question. Only you, so far, have felt the need to lash out.

Years ago, I excavated a great Omega Seamaster 120 manual wind, while digging around at my gun club. I wound it and it worked, even after an extended stay under ground. Over the years, it quit working reliably so I took it to an old Omega smith. He got it running, but again it quit. A few weeks ago, I took it out, wound it, and it has worked great for about a month. I think my Omega guy actually fixed it but I didn't wind it regularly. Now I am wearing a watch for the first time in years, and enjoying it.

Now for the wearing a belt and suspenders at the same time, I do as I am always packing my 9mm the belt gives the holster rigidity and the suspenders keep the weight off my hips.
