Headed home

Back at home after a successful elk hunt and overall Fall season. Hard to believe how warm it was up in Minnesota in September and how cold it was here on Saturday last (compare these shots to my post here on August 28th). I was just the helper on this hunt and it was quite short, my buddy killed this small cow within just a few minutes of daylight on the opener (I barely had time to process my deer and then go do this). Just one trip left for me this year (South Dakota, next week) and then my outside world will shrink back to largely my home and hearth. Somehow it always ends with me wanting more?

I might go visit an old Pennsylvania college buddy in Tampa in February (and take him some ruffed grouse and venison for us to grill, as his hunting days may be over) but...darn-it, Fall goes by just too quickly. I really try to make each one count now.
