I always struggle with the return to the big city after my time away, but I'll be headed out with a deer tag in hand next tuesday so...not all bad.

Drew was asking earlier about mature birds killed versus birds of the year. My guess here is that the longer tailfeathers are mature birds, shorter ones are birds of the year. Not a great year, but not bad either (mind you, this was several guns).

It took a bit more to get my "other" old pick-up truck ready for hunting this year. Four new tires and a new tail-light lense on the passenger side (a souvenir of our last big snowstorm here) but it's finally ready for the long haul up over mountains to the west today. Got a few bills to pay and a few more items to pack onboard but...here we go again. All I have this year is a mule deer doe tag, but it seems to be enough for now. I am noticing the cold in this rebuilt ankle in the mornings. One more thing to walk-off, eh?



My son had borrowed the truck for a little adventure of his own while I was up in Minnesota. It always seems to come back from his trips with a few things needing attention. Where I'm headed won't be looking quite this dramatic now.
