Here in the US we have "Memorial Day" to honor those who died while serving in the US military a holiday, which for some states, dates to shortly after the Civil War in the late 1860's. Rather than two days to remember the fallen November 11th was chosen to honor those who served.

A flag on every grave in the Ft Jackson National Cemetery on every Memorial day - Judy and I will be buried here:
