I really enjoy this thread each year and only wish that I had more to contribute to it. This pic doesn't meet the criteria of a double gun, but at least its an old gun. It's a 20 gauge Winchester model 37 that my father bought me in 1963. I had already got a few squirrels with a borrowed 410, but this was the first gun that was mine. I shot a bunch of squirrels with it, my first buck, and my first gobbler with it. I haven't used it in years, but I decided to take it out of the safe and go squirrel hunting Tuesday. That was the first time I've been squirrel hunting in years, and I went to a creek bottom where I remembered a productive hunt when I was 15. I did use a SxS in that hunt, so there's the connection to a double gun. I cleaned the squirrels and my wife fried them for me. That was also the first time I've eaten any in years, but they were very good, as always. Nostalgia is nice for an old man. ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/wB1MC0ZG/PXL-20241022-145915097.jpg)

I love the squirrels and nothing eats better. I like to grill them.

Stan, the 410 was a borrowed SxS and I never got anything but squirrels with it. The deer and turkeys were taken with the model 37 20 gauge. I got the deer on a dog drive when I was 10. This was late December in 1964, and most men in the area had never killed a deer at all. It was a community hunt and anyone could come and draw for a stand. I remember pulling a number out of hat, but then my father had the next stand so there must have been some cheating involved. But it was just luck that the dogs ran a big buck by me. I will never forget seeing him suddenly appear about 25 yards away on a dead run and somehow I hit him. His head was still visible over some broomsedge so I quickly reloaded and shot him again. Folks said they were sure I had a repeater because the 2nd shot was so quick, but I knew how to reload in a hurry. There were about 50 men on the drive and they covered me with blood because it was my first deer. There were only 2 killed on the hunt, and everyone wanted some meat, but the rules were that I got the head, the hide, and the left hind quarter. I still have the antlers. This is a picture of an old picture, but all I have. I'll have to tell the turkey story later. ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/xCLSb4ch/PXL-20220919-152633395-MP.jpg)

Great story and photo, coosa! Thanks!
I was hoping you were going to tell me you killed it with that 410 and a slug.

A few pics from Dusty's first week on the job at 10.5 months old. He had a good time, but he has a long ways to go. Got a bit goofy with the wide angle lens ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/PO3jRqB.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/IojqCVI.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/yxcJDGP.jpg)
