The mountainous terrain and high number of creeks and rivers in the NC/SC mountains has led to dozens (if not more) of communities with cut off from all ground access. Bridges and hundreds of miles of road are just gone. The National Guards from NC, SC and numerous other states have been airlifting supplies and transporting the displaced out of these communities. Along with the National Guards, dozens of private operators of helicopters have descended on our states and are delivering supplies and rescuing people, albeit in much smaller numbers than the Chinooks can carry. Just when you were about to give up on the thoughtfulness of strangers.

A positive bit of news: on Friday SC had 1.3 million without power while NC was around 1 million. Today’s count just under 900,000 are without power in SC and under 500,000 in NC. God bless the line workers - and they’re here from all over the US and even our neighbors in Canada.

Thanks all for your concern and kind thoughts for all of those affected by this disaster.
