Ugartechea Grade 5 Round Action Sidelock. Custom dimensions, custome barrel lengths, chokes, etc. Noce wood.

That'd be my pick with those parameters.

I'm heavily biased on the custom dimensions given I need 15.5" of pull and 0.5" of Cast On.

There are a lot of great buys out there, but if they don't fit, they don't hit.........

Don't know if they would knock a Fox out of the running, but they sure would crack the wood on an ol' LC Smith!

Truth be told, you won't find the "ultimate" upland 16b gun for under $4k. That said, and given your paramater of a steady diet of Rem blacks and gp's, suggests to me that you should be thinking of a new AYA 4/53, AOC Uggie, or something similar. I just bought a new Uggie 16 and it fits your parameters exactly. Very lively balance/handling/light weight/straight stock and stout action/barrels capable of steady diets of hot factory ammo don't seem to be the domain of used guns, although I'm sure many will disagree with me.

Good luck!

I've shot quite a few Fiocchi GP loads out of this Merkel 1620. They will clear your head, but the gun is up to it.

Didn't the magazine Shooting Sportsman compare the 2 3/4" 16 gauge against the 3" 20 gauge throwing a 1 oz. charge. Comparing these two specific shotguns the 16 gauge was throwing better patterns (more coverage less patchy spots in the 30" circle) at 40 yards then the 20 gauge was throwing at 30 yards!!! I'll take a 16 gauge anytime!!!
All the best

Walton,In my book the Fox 16 is the ultimate 16 sxs. You can get one weighing under 6 lbs up to 6 3/4 lbs and you can easily fit 20 gauge barrels on it. A pre 1913 L C Smith is a fine handling double also ! Bobby
