No birds yesterday, but I picked about a pound and a half of Lobster mushrooms (on a trail I'd walked earlier in the week) and cleaned and sautéed them in butter back at the house. I then froze them in ziplocks for later use (lobsters are hard to miss and do not have any "look-alikes" that aren't edible [or worse]). I've been threatening to do this for years, but last winter I used all that time needed to heal-up (from my wrecked ankle) to educate myself a little further on the subject. Morels, chanterelles, and now lobsters are on my list. Boletes to follow? The crops on the birds I kill up here are often full of mushrooms...
Not hard to see how they got their name?
Saw two road birds in my travels, but nothing on the trails I walked. It's finally cooling down a bit here. Still waiting on a freeze.
