I think the "Prof" suffix is a little duspect and it would be intetesting to know if he gave his students a refund.

Thanks for noticing Craig wink I have previously apologized for my less-than-Christlike words, and baiting, and will do so again. But our cross doesn't come with a sign that says "Abuse me, use me, twist my words and lie about me." I don't share the pacifist doctrines of my distant Anabaptist cousins, but when personally attacked followers of Christ however are expected to respond differently than those in the world, and I could have done better.

To answer my question, we've always had guys on the Forum with strong opinions and willingness to..uh...forcefully share them, a few miserable mean SOB who are only happy when making everyone else miserable, and a good collection of easily diagnosable Personality Disorders. I think what has changed is a reflection of the degradation of societal norms of behavior, lack of self-control, and free-floating rage. That rage destroys relationships and the one raging from within, until there is nothing left but bitterness. Everyone is mad (and a bit mentally ill 'mad') today. Look at air travel. Road rage. In a recent poll 1/3 of college students felt that violence was an acceptable form of protest, and 2/3 were OK with shouting down opinions with which you disagree.
And IMHO things have been much worse since COVID. And the mental health of children and young adults by every measure is much worse; hopelessness, despair, feelings of isolation and loneliness, global anxiety & depression, and suicide are at the highest rates ever seen.

It's hard not to be discouraged at the direction this nation is headed, and want to withdraw, but Christ followers don't really have that option, and the light of the Gospel shines most brightly in the darkness. And Bible believers know how all this ends.
BTW I'm a Reform non-cessationist but don't claim the gift of prophecy, but predict that ed's latests post is soon to be locked too smile
And this Forum will be what Dave choses to let it be.

I do apologize, Drew, if you thought I was trying to be a smart aleck. I thought you were trying to bring up old posts that talked about guns that you liked. Most of these were during time when I wasn't even on the board. I kind of dropped out in 2011 or so when I sold a large majority of my guns and spent the money on a car. And didn't come back till a couple of years ago. So I didn't understand what you were saying. Everything that I saw that you were trying to post works fine for me. That's all I meant. Take care.

Sorry about that Doc Drew, I never imagined that an apology should even be considered. We, just people in general not you, might consider that smiling face we're squaded with on the clays course, or that recreational shooter on the next bench over at the range are truly not friends, even if they can muster a few minutes of faux decorum. We can bicker and call for cooler heads and shared ideas, but many of us might try a bit harder to to recognize the consequences of our vote, in terms of policy.

Of anyone, okay a bit of rant mode, I'd think you would understand the business of mental health. Turn off the spigots, definitely plural, and the grant writers fend for themselves, and go off to get other jobs. It's a head scratcher that record bilions have been invested in the mental health industry over your timeline, and the only measure of success that we can quantify, is that hands are out to fund even more failing results. I don't know if it's a good time for more apathy, particularly if the divide is set in stone?

Yup, should be locked up soon, but "we" keep starting 'em.
