Had a great dove hunt this year. It was a misty, foggy, low cloud daybreak with no sunrise in the NC piedmont. The birds began flying at 6:45am and picked up steadily until 7:30. From 7:30-8:30 it was Armageddon with 30 or so hunters blasting away for about an hour nonstop. Totaled 25 birds with my FIL by 9am and stopped shooting. Could have had our limit but we were contemplating the cleaning chore! Our field was the only one in the county that had cut silage, 4 days prior to opening day. I shot the 16 bore Horton & Sons somewhat unflatteringly photographed here as well as I have ever managed. 7/8 oz RST 7.5 oz loads were very potent our of IC/F chokes. Other dove hunters, let's hear your reports!
