Been along time since I’ve been in a locker room but pheasant camp isn’t really any different but , of course, we don’t allow no stinking liberals there.

We don't have a political litmus test at my pheasant camp, the attendees enjoy an array of diverse opinions. We do all love to hunt and chase wild birds over dogs on the prairie though.

I wish I could believe that phony comment about Stevie not having a political litmus test when we have seen exactly that right here numerous times over the years. Many of those "litmus tests" came during repeated political conflicts with the Conservative former member that SKB refers to as "Monkey Jim" in his/her tagline. In fact, it recently became so important to add that personal insult that he/she actually deleted a small portion of his/her Free Advertising to make the character limit. And isn't it funny how those who complain to Dave that such behavior drives folks away from this forum are silent when their Liberal pals do it?

He/she and They/Them can fool those who are willing to be fools.

I traveled to Jaqua's, Findley, Ohio, last week to pick up a nice, older H & H which I consigned there over three years ago. He thought it was priced right but it commanded very little interest. Nick told me that he had never seen such a soft market for guns, particularly for double guns, of all sorts. He advised me to wait it out with consigning any double gun for the foreseeable future - however long that means.

In a soft market asset values fall to a point where a buyer will purchase that asset, whether it’s a shotgun, real estate, or a security. If a seller is motivated, he will recognize the market value and sell. Likewise, an unmotivated seller will hold and wait for the market to rise, or return to prior levels. Sometimes the market doesn’t return to prior levels and prices stay depressed for a variety of reasons. If sellers of double shotguns want the market to return, shotgun prices must reflect where the market is, not where we wish the market to be.

There's a soft market because people are charging way too much for guns. People are selling field grade Model 21s at Grand American prices. The same with just about any other guns as far as I have seen. If you want to sell a gun, and no one has expressed interest after six months or a year- time to lower the price. Otherwise, you are just carrying it to a gun show, month after month, for the exercise.

Jimmy is right on. I called Jaqua's about an overpriced Model 21 that had been on the rack, probably for years. They would not come off the price one dollar. It wasn't the consignor's dollar or Jaqua's dollar, they didn't care. They still have the gun I was interested in, and will have it for years to come. Halifax is their victim, not their customer. I inquired at a different time about an overpriced English gun, same reply, same result. The gun is still there. I wonder if the Jaquas read this forum.

used to laugh and say with some of the guns at gun shows, would be an advantage to sell them by the mile, rather than the sticker price. additionally, some websites (gb being one) seem to attract folks who are either dreamers, or simply delusional - with junk - priced as though they were desirable shooters, or collectors items. this foolishness builds in a sort of cognitive dissonance in the casual markets...when you walk past guns priced at twice what they are worth on a sunny day.

a favorite of mine these days on gb is this guy...who has evidently tapped into a rich vein of euro beaters...and believes his fortune is secured https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1061249226 i swear everything he offers looks like it was drug behind a truck, and most of them look to me to be worth perhaps half of his minimum bid.

or this one, that's been on gb for a year or more - i think it started with a $32k buy it now price, and has slowly cascaded down the bargain level currently evidenced https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1062168757

best regards,

tom

Princess,
I sure do miss Monkey Jim, he was always good for an ignorant racist joke. A real Gem that one. Glad you noticed my tag line. All my best Karen.

Where'd you pick up the locker room talk, from oil barons and titans of industry.

Locker room talk? You sure have become sensitive lately if that post offended you Craig.

Which part of my post hurt your feelings? Was it addressing Karen as Princess or giving Monkey Jim credit for his racist posts?

All my best,
Steve
