I was in the gun business for over 10 years and I rarely saw anyone under the age of 35 buy a vintage or older sxs. 16 to 30+ year olds want plastic guns that hold 30 rounds. If they do buy a hunting shotgun it is almost always a cheap semi automatic made in Turkey. Those with money will buy a Benelli or Beretta. Why do you think all of the Cabela's Gun Libraries only carry plastic and cheap wood shotguns anymore? All in all, the younger crowd is not embracing the old ways of their forefathers. I was only blessed with one son and I instilled in him the virtues of old sxs shotguns from an early age. For the past 16 years we have only hunted with classic doubles most of which have damascus barrels. It's a beautiful thing to walk side by side carrying guns that have taken game for well over 140 years. I can only hope when he has children of this own that he will carry on the old ways and hunt with vintage doubles.

Actually I have been in and out of a fair number of Cabelas stores this year. I would say that there is between zero and very few black plastic guns in their libraries. As I recall, at least one of those libraries had somewhere around 27 doubles, among other interesting firearms.

I don't mean to imply that things are just wonderful there. But they are not quite that woeful either.

Lonesome: I did read today that law enforcement does not report all the crime date. I do hear about all the shootings that take place on the weekends. One thing nice about Houston/Texas is we can carry handguns either openly or concealed with no permits required. Try that in Chicago. So we can shoot back!

Those are some valid points, John. And let’s not lose sight of what’s important, that Ted made it out in one piece. But let’s be honest. How much danger was he really in? It would have to be one hard up hood rat to jack an Oldsmobile.

The trains stink like urine and feces. Just like home, for you, I’m guessing.

If we were actually sparring, I’d pound him into the ground like a tent peg.

Pretty sure I’ve beat up better men on the way to a fight.

Ted
