Not so. While it is true that all the childish bickering and insults won't make the target of the insults leave, it DOES make make people that are here to discuss guns either leave all together or at the very least quit posting. That is why many forums that USED to have a significant number of knowledgeable posters and many relevant threads have seen a vast reduction in the number of those knowledgeable posters and relevant threads over the years. Question for those that have been here for a long time, is this place as informative and useful with a similar number of knowledgeable posters today as it was 15-20 years ago??. If not, why do you supposed that is?.

Yes, I have been watching like I did that little boy in the gun store. Why is it when I brought back an old website you jumped all over it and commented with ridiculous remarks about bringing up an old thread and then YOU turned around and brought up some old idiotic thread about some ridiculous wax. And when I brought up my question about scales for weighing a gun, John Roberts jumped on it and said I should have GOOGLED it when you could have merely googled your question about wax? Here's a thought. If you want a start over, one at a time, offer everyone on this board a coffee and a handshake, I'll wait till the end. Either all will be good, or your coffee pot blvd budget will be fully intact and your oath will continue to reflect your content of character.

No, not even close to the number of knowledgeable posters this board had 15-20 years ago. Several factors at play, many have passed on to the great hunting ground in the sky, but the single biggest factor in my mind is Karen's quest for ideological purity, divergent thought and intelligent discourse are attacked in the name of "unity".

It is so easy to bait you retards- cast out my line and reel you in like a bunch of sucker fish on a hook. It's so much fun! All I have to do is ask a simple question. It's like having my own little puppet gallery and you are all my little puppets on a string- dancing around. And here I am controlling my own little peanut galley like a group of Howdy Doodys!! So, guys, what say we start playing nice and give these decent people on here a nice place to converse. I took an oath to stop. But after a while I said the heck with THAT. You see who didn't. So, how about it? I'd like to learn stuff from you people. Let's give the decent people their thread back. OKAY?

You said you put me on ignore. Clearly not.
I wish you no ill will, but sometimes you post things that are too funny not to respond. Lighten up.
I like winchesters as you do. Beautiful guns.

You seem to be a stalker, likely with false email accounts.
Play in the rules and don't be a passive aggressive creep.

This board is different from SW or TS. FWIW, I do not post my interest of semi autos or sporting clays here as it is not appropriate. I also post on a private gun board that is very political in nature. No holds barred left vs right and frankly you could not handle that board. It is different here and I try to follow the native rules on all boards

I have learned a lot on this board regarding double guns, proof marks, finishes. On SW, most advice is true oil or timberluxe, here it is waterlox alkanet and london. On TS it is 2 part conversion finish and clear coat spraying so you see all boards are different.

As for the original question, I stand by it. Why go out of one's way to post such a huge picture in the sig line? It adds nothing.
I never called out anyone or used anyone's name. I addressed the principle, not the person in my original post.

That someone thinks it is about him, is on them.
Then prove what you say. And I doubt if you have taken a poll on whether people like seeing pictures. There are many people who like seeing pictures of guys with their dogs and the game they shot. I do. And I wish I had the opportunity to hunt in the places they hunt. So, does this mean that you are going to continue to run everyone's pictures down when they show their dogs and the birds they shot? Or just specific people? So, let's give the decent people on here a nice place to talk and not ruin it for them. Once again. I promise to play nice. smile

Message me your address. I'll not only send you the money for a coffee and a handshake- I'll send you the money for an entire big breakfast at McDonalds. How 'bout that? smile

No one else here puts a huge photo in their byline. No one. We all like good photos that are posted to a thread. But BrentD insists on leaving his tiresome, oversized photo (which is a wonderful photo, btw) on all his posts, forcing everyone who goes to a post that he participates in to have to scroll past it on every reply he does. It's such an egotistical choice of him to continue doing it, but he insists for aggravation toward a certain few here. Tells you a lot about someone who does such.

To be clear, IMO, Seeing an oversized picture is not the same as seeing pictures. Resize it to a thumbnail then
10 g is not the same as a 20g. 1 ¼ is not the same as 7/8th. 10 lbs in not the same as 6 lbs. 3xxl is not the same as .... There is only so much screen space and scrolling past you get carpal

John, the solution is quite simple really. Put me on ignore and that big photo rolls right up. All that is left is a little, pale yellow bar with the words
*** You are ignoring this user ***
Toggle the display of this post

You will not even notice that I have posted. smile

It was The Fuse that just a day or two ago ranted that everyone should ignore me, while he, himself, cannot. But you can. So can Kolar. Just put me on ignore and all your problems are solved instantly.

Both of you, and so many others, have ranted how I have nothing to add here, so what do you have to lose?

In the meantime, I find it humorous that "le Fusible" (perhaps mèche courte would be more appropriate, I'm not a francophile) wants to knock over whole racks of guns everytime he sees a Merkel. I find that humorous. Note that the photo at the top of forum is.... ta da!!!! A Merkel. It is a wonder that he can stand it here at all.

And then there is Ted who knows everything about old dogs and has to been critical of me and Gus many times. I find that equally worthy of reminding him, and everyone else. Pretty low character there, but that is Ted's style. I would love to switch out the photo now and again, but I do not use the Merkel often and do not have many pictures of Gus and that gun together. I guess I could got to two photos. One with a great shot of Gus and another of the Merk. I had not thought of that.

Last, I might note that almost every forum (and especially every forum that begs money from its users) has modern, up to date software that auto resizes photos. Dave loves to take your money, not mine, mind you, and spend it on beer instead of updating to modern standards. So largish photos persist.

I do not know how much longer I will keep that picture posted. I certainly like it, and Gus will not be with me much longer :), so I will enjoy seeing it even more. And I don't see those emotional ranters like Le Fusible and Ted and some of the others cleaning up their acts anytime soon, so you may as well enjoy it as much as I do and be grateful I don't post political pics of, say, Obama or Biden, etc. smile

I posted pictures on here. I had to put the size on that Imgur made me post. There was no way for me to change mine when I posted pictures. Sometimes you can't.
