To know the answer to your question Kolar, you had to be here to watch how that sig line evolved over time. Although you've been a registered member since 2003, it is fairly recently that you have become a more active participant here.
A few years ago, The Nutty Professor joined an active campaign to try to dictate how Dave Weber should run his forum. The Nutty Prof and his Liberal and Closet Liberal pals joined forces to attempt to ban, censor, and silence some Conservative voices they despised. I was one of them, and from a PM message I received from another member last week, I know they still wish to silence me via cowardly implied threats and intimidation. I was warned that they have been up my ass for some time. So I went and took a crap, and there they were... spineless turds! I was even warned they are watching my house with satellite surveillance from space! So I went outside and gave a middle finger to the sky.
But one of the things the Nutty Professor did was to start an active campaign of repeated posts encouraging others to stop making donations to fund this site. And he also changed his tag line at that time to encourage people to not give Dave "one more dime". Like a spoiled petulant child, he wanted to intimidate and financially coerce Dave to run this forum his way. He also encouraged others to stop participating here, and to go to other firearms forums such as Upland Journal. He repeatedly bragged about being happy to pay his membership fee to join the Upland Journal forum, and couldn't stop telling us how much better it was there.
But for all that, he couldn't stop returning here to DoubleGunShop engage in his usual whining and crying. One is led to wonder why he just doesn't stay over there on the Upland Journal if it is so great. One thing is certain in my opinion. Brad, the dictatorial Administrator there, would not be as patient with his behavior if he acted as he does here. When called out on it by others, he dug in his heels and made it clear he was thrilled to be here to piss off those who were sick of his games.
Then, after another prominent member here questioned his intelligence and his qualifications to be a college professor, he changed his screen name slightly by adding "Prof" to his screen name. He bragged about doing that, as an eye-poke to the guy who dared to question his intelligence and credentials. He now signs every post "BrentD, (Professor - just for Stan)"... because he was so deeply wounded by having his qualifications as a college professor questioned.
You will note that the giant tag line or signature line photo contains a Merkel double shotgun. That large photo appeared shortly after LeFusil criticized his Merkel. Most normal people would just let such criticism slide off their back, but this guy ain't normal. So naturally that very large photo soon replaced his tag line campaign to defund this website. No doubt he would choose to do both, but there is a limit to how much material can be in a tag line. It was yet another immature eye-poke to the guy who criticized his Merkel. And then, when some guys mentioned that his dog looked malnourished in that photo, he became extremely defensive, and more determined than ever to keep displaying it, hoping it continued to bother those who understandably dislike him.
Remember, this is the same guy who just yesterday was lecturing those who are critical of his Liberal Left dogma, and his obvious support for anti-gun Democrats. He was asking them what sort of bridges they were building by taking a Liberal out hunting or shooting in order to bring them into our fold. So the guy who is constantly burning bridges here with his eye-pokes and personal attacks is talking out of both side of his mouth by crying that we aren't doing enough to be more welcoming to those who support anti-gun Democrats, and an anti-hunting agenda. And for as bright as he would like everyone to think he is, he is unable to connect a few simple dots. He cannot understand that taking a Liberal Democrat shooting, or embracing a Liberal Left Democrat voting gun owner, puts us on a fast track to helping elect those same anti-gun Democrats to more quickly erode and destroy our Rights to own guns, and for our kids and grandkids to continue to hunt and shoot as we knew it.
For a time, I believed that Big Tent nonsense, and was fooled into thinking we are stronger if we all stick together. But they actually cause much more harm than good. None of them have any inclination to stop voting for anti-gunners. Some of them actively campaign against pro-2nd Amendment politicians like Trump, as you have seen here. To me, a gun owner who knowingly supports anti-gun Democrats is much more of a threat to us than any non-gun owning Liberal. They proudly elect and enable anti-gun politicians, and we never see them telling anti-gun Democrats that they should stop infringing upon our Gun Rights. They are truly the enemy within, and they undermine us and do great damage.
Kolar, one last thing... you also mentioned how that oversized photo takes up server space and screen real estate. That's an interesting point. Because many of the Nutty Professor's like minded Liberal pals frequently whined and complained about the bits and bytes and bandwidth that was "wasted" here on 2nd Amendment Threads, which they always hated, and worked to disrupt or have locked or deleted. Isn't it amazing that not a single one of them care about the bandwidth or server space wasted on this giant photo that might look like pride in a dog and gun, to those who don't know the full story behind it. In reality, it is nothing more than a big continual eye-poke from a pathetic little man-child who couldn't take a little criticism on a gun forum.
Now you know, as Paul Harvey famously said... the rest of the story. And now, no doubt... you too will be on the Liberal Shit List here.
