You are right; Purina (Nestle) is the only major brand of dog food Mfg keeps over 100+ dogs of all breed on site for study and research on canine health and nutrition. They don’t just talk the talk, they walk the walk.

I like the idea of fresh, home-made dog food but that is not realistic if one have cook for 15 ~20 dogs day in and day out, not to mention if we are on hunting trips.
However, I do offer lightly boiled pork spine twice /week as calcium supplements, I also find it improves their dental hygiene. I like to do more, but that’s about as close to home made as I get.

As a FYI, Diamond dog food is involved in every major dog food recall in the last decade; the latestet one being as recent as May/07, your vet’s nutritional advisory is questionable.

15-20 dogs may be an issue, but 15-20 dogs is an issue no matter what. We do 3 dogs, 4 cats and a pair of horses at max.

I poked around that site a bit. Sounds like whoever they are, they are genuinely interested in what their pets and believe what they say. It would be nice if they identified who they were and their credentials, though.
