Did their(A&D) first Patent look like this box lock with one barrel lump and no underbite, just a dolls head C- Bite? ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/qnbnYgz.jpeg)

A&D Patent wasn't really advertised in National media until 24 March 1877..The Field. Since it was a cocking/opening system, not sure what the rest would involve - defer to the experts. https://www.doublegunshop.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=631208&page=2![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/VknAUCg.png)

![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/ILODL0F.jpg) Yes, as in this early Edwinson Green A&D 12 bore.

Original posters gun looks like an early A&D 1875 patent with the rounded ends to the cocking levers. Argo I think the 1877 mar 24th Advert is in fact for their tumbler blocking system where a cross bolt blocks both tumblers. At the time of 1875 patent London houses were left somewhat in disarray as all they had to offer were hammer guns. A number of arguments were made against the A&D System ranging from "it looks ugly, like a dog with no ears" to" its dangerous, you cant tell whether its cocked". To combat these any number of weird and wonderful devices were introduced to overcome problems that didn't exist.

Thanks guys, this gun needs to be restocked but the rest looks very nice. barrels would be perfect if they had some choke in the first. Guns only 6.5lbs with its repaired stock and 30 in barrels. Tempting at 750.00!
