That answered my question as to source. I had always presumed it was a Webley mark since I had not seen it on a W&C Scott gun. The puzzling thing is that it apears on a gun I am certain was made no later than 1875 due to the consistent proof marks, style of the action etc, yet the mark supposedly wasn't used until 20+ years after the latest possible date. I will find out tomorrow if I am going to acquire the gun. I will post some pictures if I do.
