I have always loved bird hunting of all kinds, in my younger days
my parents farm in Texas was utilized for corn and peanuts and potholes were plentiful on our farm and neighboring farms. Everyone knew everyone and I had the run of anywhere I wanted to chase ducks and geese. Over the past twenty years the farms have all retired and the land of most has been bought, split and now in the name of progress are subdivisions and small residential plots. Our farm, although no longer a working farm other than a few cattle has reverted back to the wild. There are no longer the cries of geese overhead or the whistling wings of ducks to be found where once were abundant. We do have a limited number of quail. So last year I had a brain storm and started looking for a couple of pointers with the idea of training them myself and buying captive raised birds to release on our property instead of paying someone else. I have two german shorthairs now trained and ready to go. Were soon going to try our first release hunt with them and hopefully many memories will be born.
