Revdoc, The US Embassy is clear, on Hannover Sq. Great story about it, built on land held leasehold from the Grosvenor Estate. Uncle Sam prefers to own the land on which his embassies stand, so made an approach to the Duke of W. (father of the present one) and asked if they could come to some arrangement. The Duke said he was quite willing to come to an arrangement, that an ancestor had some property confiscated as a result of a civil disturbance in America a couple of centuries ago and if he could have it back he would do a deal. Asked what it was, he replied “I believe you now call it the State of Florida.” End of discussion. K.

Purdeys Factory, 1962. Robert 'Bob' Heath; one of the Masters for boring barrels, and choking for pattern. Here using the overhead belt-driven lapping machine.

Adolf Hitler, and the position Germany finished in the World War League? Twenty Five Two Nine was the time we declared the WW2 was over. Now give me the Cigar.

Can anyone explain the "2nd" stampings on the Fox Bbls # 2529 revdocdrew posted for me?? I have seen it once before on a Fox. Maybe it means 2nd Quality????The gun only had 1 pair of barrels, so I dont think they were the No2 pair of a 2 Bbl set. CC/dt

Seems I remember some bearded gun writer covering that in one of his ramblings, and that it had to do with a manner of employee discount for the Fox employees. They would take a gun from inventory and stamp it as a 2nd and give the employee a discount. I believe the guns were straight out of inventory and not inferior in any way.

Nobody else has posted too this thread since my answer above concerning the "2nd" marking on the Fox gun. Am I right in my memory of the Fox employee's discount?

There is an article on that 2nd stamp in the DGJ or SS, but I cant think of which. If I remember correctly, it means they (Fox) would let workers purchase them? Maybe Im just making that up though. Funny how memory works isnt it? If Chief thinks thats it, then it I must not be too far off, right?
