Sometimes you have to step back to see the situation from another person's perspective. John has done just that for you. Take his wise advice and tell your friend to buy a nice card and write what she wants her husband to do with the $1500. If he is smart, he will take the money, add some to it and buy what he wants.

Thanks for all the advice. I actually mentioned that to her after we looked at Cabela's. She would prefer to give him an actual gift rather than a just a note or gift certificate but she is thinking about that option. That came up because when we stopped at Gander Mountain they mentioned they would not take a new gun back for a full refund even if it had not been shot. They would however be nice enough to take it back at a big discount as a used gun!!

Tom,
Call me at 308-255-8274 or e-mail me at tbryant@cabelas.com. I think I can help you out.

Weatherby shotguns(and rifles, for that matter) have been more sizzle than steak for a long time, IMO. Jim, no comment here on Weatherby rifles. However, Weatherby OU's have been SKB's for quite some time. Do you intend the above remark to apply to those guns--and hence to SKB's as well as Weatherbys?

I sure did. I have no trouble with that opinion. You don't have to agree, though.

Well, I think quite a few people would have good things to say about SKB OU's, whether they're marked Ithaca, Mitsui, just SKB, or Weatherby. The basic design of the gun has been with us for better than 40 years now, which is fair longevity in the business.
