Coyotes probably do pheasants more good than any other critter out there.

Care to educate the rest of us as to how? I'm still scratching my head over this one.

My only regret about the red fox shot is that I was equipped with my AYA Lightweight instead of one of my ten bore Lefevers. 10-Bore, thanks for the vote of confidence in my shooting ability. The fox shot was more a situation of good bait placement (mallard on a pole, 45 yards from my second floor bedroom window) and gun and load selection.

Steve, it's been pretty well documented that coyotes put the hurt to coons, skunks, opossums, and most especially foxes. They not only kill them outright, but also restrict their movements. The net effect of that has been increased duck nest success and similar results have been found for other ground nesting birds - but the duck work is the best evidence that I'm aware of. That this would extend to pheasants in most situations, esp. where red fox are abundant, is all but a foregone conclusion. The bottom line is that coyotes save more birds via limiting other, more efficient, bird killers than they, the coyotes, kill outright.

I dont know from where you got that fact, so I wont dispute it. Out here we have relativley few foxes, but LOTS of coyotes. Our annual coyote hunt, 140+ teams, spotted over 800 in a 3 day hunt, and if memory serves, harvested 292. Thats a lot of coyotes. I know that I personally took 25 or 30 in the normal course of business. I see them every day, and know what they do to wildlife and calves. You manage them your way, we'll do it our way. Oh yeah, I really doubt that any coyote, unless it was brain damaged, would kill a skunk.

Okay LD no more stories UNLESS you come up with some pictures of this Lefever. There are rules here and plenty of us are afflicted with Lefever fever and we want pictures! Not that pictures are in any way a cure for this affliction mind you but they do ease our pain slightly!!!!!

LD, well there's got to be some way around it or else you got to go hunting with something other than a Lefever. There's rules here Buster and we ain't changing them just to accommodate you!
