Bob: Are you thinking of the 2" 12 bores that were popular between the world wars? Skimin & Wood has been credited with popularizing them in the 1930s. Many are sub 6 pounds and proofed for 7/8 oz loads. Here is an example: https://www.vintageguns.co.uk/magazine/a-two-inch-12-bore-from-the-1930s
