I picked this old Drilling up at the Southern SXS this April. It was in need of some TLC. It had a broken hammer for the rifle barrel, broken firing pin on the left shotgun barrel, some pitting on the barrels, and 100 years of crude and handling marks, but it locked up nice and tight and the barrels rang just fine.

This is my first drilling and first European gun. The craftsman ship of these old guild guns is just amazing to me. Its a 16x16x9.3x72R. I did a chamber cast to confirm the rifle chamber.

Things I did:
Repair the rifle hammer and made a new firing pin
Disassembled and deep cleaned the action
Rust blued the action. I didn't want it French grayed.
Bill Graham removed the small dent in the barrel
Struck the barrels to remove pits, sand and reblued
Removed old finish
Acetone soak the wood to get old oil out
Raise dents in wood
Timberlux finished the wood
Recheckered the stock and forearm

I didn't get a lot of before pics, i did get some of a few items. I will start with the few before pics I have.

Wow, amazing progress. I’ve never seen one where the entire receiver has been matted. Looks really nice with the contrasting, smooth edges. I also like the flat top checkering. Keep us updated.
