Not often I agree withTthe Fuse, but this is one of them. Obenaufs is good stuff for boots and guns and gun cases, and gloves and mitts. But I do think it's possible to overthink this a bit. Anything is better than nothing and preparations designed for out of doors and sometimes a bit wet are going to be better than things like furniture polish and street shoe polish - maybe.

A buddy uses mink oil and it works just fine for him.
