I recently acquired a nice .333 WJ Jeffrey rifle. I am in the process of buying components to reload the cartridge and also trying to locate ammunition for it. In the meantime, i thought I would share a few pictures. If anyone cares to share any information on this rifle I would appreciate any information or thoughts. Beautiful rifle in a very effective calibre. The address and serial number indicate production between 1910 and 1914. ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/vJ5SRNT.jpg) Advert is from “Notes on Sporting Rifles” Major Gerald Burrard, D.S.O., RFA first edition 1920. A few .333 Jeffery rifles were used in the counter-sniper role 1914-1918 as it was found that the bullets would sail though German loophole plates. Ones put into military use may well have British Military crossed flags Proof Marks.

Thank you for this information. Im hoping I can find some ammunition or brass in order to take the rifle to the range. I have bullets on the way in 200, 250, and 300 grain from Hawk bullet company. Unable to find brass from any manufacture so far. Im guessing I will need to make my own from 404 cases.

I'm having trouble reading the numbers in front of EX on the barrel. Please, what are they? I assume they are 333 but they don't look like it. Have you looked for 280 Jeffereys? Otherwise you may be stuck with Hornady 404s.

Ghostrider, That is the type of steel the barrel is made from. It translates to "fluid steel, Krupp (the steel company) Essen (location of the steel company, a city in the Ruhr River valley)". Mike

Mike Mike, Krupp fluid steel barrels were marked FLUSS STAHL, which I'm certain you know. The term on this rifle is GUSS STAHL which translates to cast steel. I don't recall ever seeing this term on any Krupp Steel barrels before. Maybe I just glanced at it quickly, and assumed as you did that it said Fluss Stahl.
