That is it. Same serial number as the description I found. Whether it is the one I was shown in Tulsa, I don't know, but almost has to be, I think.

The photos are beautiful. I'd buy it were it not for the "well below recommended" part.

As a rule Holts notes anything below .020 as below recommended wall thickness. But most if not all British 2” doubles started out below .020. Have the walls measured and decide. If the bores have not been honed to death and the gun still has .016-.018 wall thickness it might have always been “below wall thickness”. Wall thickness has nothing to do with proof. I was told that a gun recently passed proof with one barrel of .015”. In proof, is in proof, but you still need to evaluate the gun for what it is. I doubt that there are many 2” guns with barrels thicker than .020”.

Did Skimin and Wood provide all the serial numbers of the actions they supplied to other gunmakers? I'm wagering they did. I know of another gun with extremely similar characteristics is only 4 serial numbers apart from this MacPherson gun.

NO, I did not find a single 2" 12 gauge in the entire place. An amazing number of guns and of interesting quality, mostly, but not what I wanted. I don't think I missed one either.

The hunt continues. I'll find one sooner than later.

How bad you want one? Not mine, but I can sell you my Midland 2 incher for a lot less. You could have it completely re-done and still have less in it than the Dickson, just saying.

I'm hunting for a bit fancier gun than the Midland. I could fix it up, but time is not on my side that way, and fixing up guns takes more time than money. The Dickson - how did I miss that? It's very nice, but I just can't live with a stock extension. Not even that one. I'd love a Dickson 2" but I doubt I'll find one. The best gun I've seen is the Joseph Curry that sold at Poulin's last year. The best one I've seen for sale - minus the brace of Holland and Holland's on the Westley Richard's website for $60k or so, is a bit hard for me to determine. I have three candidates, but the MacPherson may be out of the running now. I'll see if I hear more about it when it arrives, but in the meantime, I'll keep looking, and I won't wait on it.

Now, how did I miss that Dickson? Is it a new addition?

Is there a way to determine how long a listing as been on Guns International? They allow me to sort from newest to oldest, but I find that and the sort from least to most expensive, etc does not work well at all.

I don't know how long it's been up on GI. Gerry is a member here, he may have a gun or two for sale in the for sale section.
