Was curious to see if anyone knew who out of Birmingham supplied Winchester with their A-D grade hammer guns?

If my memory serves me correctly, Ellis in England was given credit for the Winchester hammer guns . I think they were offered in at least three grades.

Good find, Drew. I could have been thinking of Bonehill, but Ellis still sticks in my mind. In any case, there were multiple makers imported by Winchester.

There are some posts and a little history floating around about 8 gauge Winchester prototypes that were, I believe, W. C. Scott guns that were overbored and labeled as Winnies. That would make me think they may be connected at some point, particularly since Scott both catered to the third party market and was one of the early English makers to actually establish a position in the country via Boston.

Stadt states "guns were purchased from Messrs. W.C. McAntree & Company, Richard Rodman, C.G. Bonehill, and Messrs. W.C. Scott & Sons. The Scott-made guns were probably the higher grades."
